There are alot of martial arts schools around now adays, and if you are not sure which martial art is what, then it can be quite confusing trying to find the right school for you. Matt Hudd, the founder and chief instructor has trained in many schools and in many styles. He has been to some martial art schools where the training session seemed more like surviavl rather than training. While he believes that training in martial arts should be a challenge and pushes the individual, there needs to be a balance. It still needs to be fun and enjoyed, afterall all animals learn by play.

Different ranks
Like most martial arts, there are grades in Kung Fu that detemine a students level of training. In a lot of martial arts, the grade is determined by the colour of the belt that the student wears. As Kung Fu originated in China, Chinese martial arts wear sashes instead of belts. The Black sash is normally the higest colour that a student will wear, after that there are stripes that go onto the Black sash to signify the level the student or instructor is.
Enjoy the Journey, not the destination
Matt has been training in the martial arts for nearly 48 years now, and while the standard and the grade of the student does matter, it should not be all about the the colour of the sash/belt that a student wears around their waist. Not everyone wants to train that hard and put in the time that is required to earn the Black sash. Matt believes that there are so many benefits that martial arts bring to enhance peoples lives, you should be happy at whatever grade you are. You are still doing a lot more with your life than the average person that is sat at home gaming or watching soaps.
What a great community it is
This is one reason why we have created the community that we have. Without harping on about all the positive feedback and testimonials that we have had, you only have to do a quick research on google to read them. Matt did not set out to create this, however from his passion and the philosophy that he and his coaches have formed, this is exactly what has happened.
Smile!
One rule that you will hear Matt or the other coaches saying at our academy is if you are getting frustrated or angry when you are learning a technique or movement, "Smile". This has changed so many peoples view on their own training. We all make mistakes, none of us just pick up new movements just like that, however frowning or getting frustrated does not help the learning preocedure. Smiling changes chemicals in your brain and makes you relise just why uyou are there in the first place. Training should not be a chore, if you are not enjoying things, then do something else.
Dont compare yourself to anyone else
As well as martial arts, Matt has spent a life time on personal development. To him, they both go hand in hand. Martial arts is personal development. This is why it is about the indvidual, you should never compare yourself to somebody, as we are all on different journeys. Matt has studied NLP (Neuro linguistic programming) at master level, is a certified hypnotherapist, a certified public speaker, and a qualified Guru in Silat Fitrah. He brings all these skills to his martial art teachings and the outcome is plain to see once you have witnessed his unique approach.
